J. Jordan is privately owned by Jennifer Jordan Thompson. The business was established in 2005 in a small location on the east side of the square in Shelbyville, Tennessee. After only one year in business we needed more space and relocated to a three level building to better serve our customers. Here we offer fashion, accessories, wardrobe planning and alterations.

My Dream -
Owner / Buyer / Designer
One of my first memories was sitting on top of the dining room table and watching my mother Sew. She would pin pattern pieces to fabric, cut them out and sew them together to make me a dress. I was fascinated as I watched her. I remember my mother making my dresses for special occasions. She would ask me what I liked and then we would pick out patterns and fabrics together. Thus began my childhood dream to design clothes and own a dress store.
I studied Home Economics in high school and obtained a B.S. degree in Fashion Merchandising. Through my education I learned, what styles were best for different figure types, and the importance of combining fabrics, colors and style to enhance your appearance. Dressing nice made me feel good about myself. As I grew older, I knew I wanted to help women feel good about themselves too by teaching them how to dress so that they will look their best.
My dream is being fulfilled through J. Jordan Boutique. I am so thankful for the loyal support of the people in Shelbyville and surrounding communities. Many of my clients visit from other states when they are in Shelbyville to attend the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and other special events. It is a pleasure to be of service to them.
Fashion Consultant
Deborah Obenchain has played a vital role in the success of J. Jordan since the first day it opened. When Deborah assists customers it's not like work, she describes it as "play" and that's when the fun begins. She specializes in coordinating colors and accessories to create outfits that give ladies their own unique flair. Deborah has a theatrical background that lends itself to her personality, wit and charm and causes customers to "love her so!" Her creative flair can also be seen in the window displays that many often drive-by to see.
Alterations Specialist
Honoria Sanchez is a talented seamstress and tailor. She is experienced in fine detailing and intricate work. We are proud to offer her skills to our customers. Whenever you visit J. Jordan, just look "up" to the balcony and you will often see Honoria sewing away.
